The duo of Rob Taylor (bass) and Jacob Matheus (guitar) set out to explore collaborative composition with talented singers and songwriters. In the form of a music video series, the barrenOaks traverse a world of story and song with their artistic companions.
Thriving at a state of high lyricism and high danger, the Jacob Matheus Group is determined to introduce the art of free improvisation to the traditions of European written music. Featuring the works of Matheus, interwoven with collectively improvised ventures, the ensemble evokes a strikingly familiar conversational dynamic, playfully traveling through influences of folk, jazz and 20th century classical music with graceful facility and artistic prowess.

As a song preserver PEIA has gathered songs from ancient traditions that span across the globe, from the mountains of Bulgaria to the shores of Ireland, touching upon the wisdom and trials of the Native peoples of North and South America and preserving the enchantment of medieval chant and Indian Raga.
